What if "Weak signal — buffering" appears?

The stream is not delivering data fast enough. Here is what that means.

iPhoneiPadMacApple TV

A yellow "Weak signal — buffering" banner at the top of the player means playback ran out of received video — the source is not delivering data fast enough right now. It points at the stream or the network, not your device.

What Rivue does on its own

Rivue only shows the banner when the buffer is genuinely empty — brief hiccups it can cover from the buffer never bother you. While the banner shows, Rivue keeps pulling data; if nothing arrives for about 12 seconds it starts the automatic reconnect ladder.

What to try

  1. If it happens on one channel only: try another copy of it (Sources on the folded row, or another playlist).
  2. If it happens on everything: check your Wi-Fi or connection speed — try a speed test, or move closer to the router.
  3. For movies and episodes you plan to rewatch, Download them over Wi-Fi and play offline — no signal needed.
Tip — If it keeps happening, send us a playback log right after the problem: open SettingsPlaylists & SourcesDiagnosticsShare Playback Log and email it to support@rivue.tv. The log records what the player actually did, which is what pins down the cause. (Log sharing is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac.)
