What if the stream drops mid-play?

Rivue reconnects on its own — up to five times — and resumes where it stopped.

iPhoneiPadMacApple TV

Streams get interrupted: the source hiccups, your network blips, a segment goes missing.

What Rivue does on its own

If no data arrives for about 12 seconds, Rivue reconnects automatically — up to five attempts, waiting a little longer between each. In movies and episodes you will see "Connection lost — retrying…" with the attempt count, and playback resumes at the exact position where it stopped, not from the beginning. Live TV shows a spinner while it reconnects. If a movie is paused with plenty already buffered, a brief source stall is bridged invisibly from the buffer.

If Rivue gives up

  1. "You're offline" — your device has no internet. Downloads still play from the Downloads page.
  2. "Channel unavailable — the provider rejected this stream" — the source refused the stream; see What if a channel won't play?.
  3. "Stream unavailable" after several attempts — try again in a minute, or pick another copy of the channel under Sources.
Tip — If it keeps happening, send us a playback log right after the problem: open SettingsPlaylists & SourcesDiagnosticsShare Playback Log and email it to support@rivue.tv. The log records what the player actually did, which is what pins down the cause. (Log sharing is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac.)
